Project Overview
Configured both standard and extended ACLs to filter and secure traffic on a simple network topology.
Key Tasks and Accomplishments:
Topology Setup & Initial Connectivity Testing
- Built the lab topology in Packet Tracer and confirmed connectivity between all devices before implementing ACLs.
Standard ACL Configuration
- Configured a standard ACL to permit traffic from the Staff network and deny traffic from the Plant network.
- Applied the ACL outbound on the interface connected to the server network and verified correct filtering.
Extended ACL Configuration
- Configured an extended ACL to:
- Permit web traffic from the Plant network.
- Deny all other traffic from the Plant network.
- Allow all traffic from the Staff network.
- Applied the ACL on the appropriate outbound interface and validated the results.
Traffic Verification & Testing
- Verified traffic filtering by:
- Testing ping responses from both PCs.
- Ensuring only the Staff PC could ping the server.
- Confirming successful web server access from both networks while maintaining strict traffic filtering.
